This interactive plot shows the accepted generation volume of individual electricity generation units over time. Each line represents a generator and the vertical axis represents the accepted generation volume in megawatts (MW).
The horizontal axis represents the datetime of the electricity market dispatch. The plot can be interactively explored by zooming into specific time periods, hovering over individual observations, and selecting or deselecting generators using the legend.
The accepted volume represents the amount of generation from each unit that was accepted by the market or dispatch optimization at a particular timestep.
A higher accepted volume indicates that a generator is producing more electricity during that timestep. Periods where a generator has an accepted volume close to zero indicate that the unit was not dispatched or was producing very little electricity.
The different generation technologies can exhibit different dispatch patterns. For example, thermal generators may show relatively stable output or changes associated with system demand, while solar and wind generation can vary substantially over time because of weather conditions.
The interactive legend can be used to isolate individual generators or compare several generators simultaneously. The range slider below the x-axis can also be used to examine shorter periods in greater detail.
